Believe it or not, I am still alive and crafting away. I have made so many cards and scrapbooking pages, you would all be surprised. I am simply horrible at uploading them to my blog. Okay- okay- I will do my best this year to get better. Wait- didn't I say the same thing last year? I dunno--- LOL....work with me people--- I'm unpredictable. I do wonder who still even checks this page- so if you DO, please send me a note. Otherwise-- I think I will probably simply delete it.

This first card is one I made for my dear husband for our anniversary in December. Its a clear sentiment stamp from Technique Tuesday that I embossed with gold....He loved the colors and the the heart charm I added ... the paper is Michaels and the charm (isn't it adorable?) is a Jo'anns steal. Love their beading and jewelry sections for charms.

This is a cute and simple baby girl card that DH needed for a troop of his. Yes- I get tapped to make cards for him....it gives me a guilt-free conscious when I buy my habit stuff--- LOL....you all probably know how that is. I used my scor-pal to add the dimensional lines in the background, plus if you can see the sparkles on the hearts, they were colored, then I added clear sparkle to them....I didn't hear back if they liked the card....hmmmmm....I wonder if I missed the punch on this one.

This last picture is of the wonderful birthday present I got from my dad and stepmom. Aren't they just the most amazing wood-working people? Guess what? They SAW this on a website and simply built it for me. They knew I had punches all over the place and needed a good storage system. I love this and when I get around to re-doing my craft room (basement renovation is our current project, so I am waiting PATIENTLY) this piece will work perfectly on my counter-top. I haven't yet chosen a color for my room--- does anyone have any ideas?

Well--- before I go for the day- I want to share my newest purchase. It is not a craft thingy- but a Kindle! Can you believe it? I know so many people who have one, and they rave about them. I have mentioned for over a year that I would LOVE one, but hubby didn't conform. So, last week when I was out of town, and after hauling reading material and finishing both books, I got fed up and ordered it myself. He isn't sold yet- but thats okay, its all for me anyway.

Happy Tuesday.....

Hi everyone----- I just wanted to make a quick note that I am here and live. I have been on the road and then I'm roling out again on Friday. I'm missing Black Friday---- the horror.....! My men are going to a friends for Thanksgiving. Do **NOT** feel sad for us.....I'm only going to be gone for a week-----! Remember I have fellow service men and women who have spent much more time away from their families.

I am here- alive and working and working. I promise to post new creations soonest....PROMISE!!

Magnolia Easel Card

Happy Friday everyone!!! Its the beginning of a weekend....and that is just great for us all! I have a fun filled weekend ahead of me--- guess what I will be doing? I am spending two whole days at a crop! I haven't done this in a year....and I absolutely love these weekends. When I lived in Germany, we would have one almost monthly. The gaggle of us would get together, eat, crop and I would even sneak in a bottle of wine now and then.....I know...but still!! This weekend, I get to spend time with Molly (hiya chica) and her daughter Jessica. We usually have Denise with us (sad you won't be there girl) but we understand. Priorities and all.....Anyway- the three of us work together and share our passion for paper.

Enough about that....lets get to my beautiful card for today. I hope you all love her as much as I do. I spent the better part of my morning today assembling and coloring her. I adore her!!!!! This is my first realy use of my copics. And as you can tell they worked out well with my paper selection....(I hope you are proud of me Michelle....look at her!!)

This is a 5x5 easel card that I made for Molly. Her birthday was last weekend and I have yet to give her her gift....so I figured I owe her a splendid card to go with the goody bag I have!

Isn't she just darling? I got the stamp from Magnolia and they have too many to choose from. These gals (and guys too) are just the cutest things happening with stamps right now. They are perfect for the copics.....hee hee--- can you tell I love them?

You can't tell from the pictures, but I have diamond glaze on the little stuffed toy she is holding. I also added my *smooch* paint to the blue areas...her pocket, hairbows and the lace trim of her dress. I picked those up HERE. That store carries all things sparkly, cute and new for cards. Holiday Cards Galore!

Hi everyone and Happy Thursday!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Tomorrow is Friday- and it IS the best day of the week..... I spent all day today (other than a minor break to run Nathan to the orthodontist...ugh) in my paper cave working on holiday cards. What fun this was! You have no idea.....days like this are are rarer and rarer as my travel schedule kicks in....and I really appreciate days like this!

Nathan is going to be getting impressions next week and in early December he will have expanders put in. Unfortunately for him, he has his fathers genetics and instead of waiting for braces, we are going to try to open up his narrow jaw now for his permanent teeth. He is pretty excited...we will see what he says after day one however!

Now--- off to the cards!

This first card took me awhile to design. PHEW! I had an idea in my head, but getting all of the pieces together and looking right just didn't come easily. It took Aaron commenting on my rough draft before I had it. The CS is red riding hood, the paper is basic grays Figgy Puddy Forest that I picked up at Michaels recently, the ribbon is SU red riding hood. The *merry wishes* is a dollar stamp set with my nestabilities labels 2 with a layered background. I am in love with my nestabilities.....Michelle (my stamping/scrapping/running peep) got me hooked on them. She would be so proud of me!!! The white dots surrounding the red label is a sharpie I got from Suzanne Dean.

This card was made awhile back--- I make several different designs each year. I send out over 70+ cards, and making that many of one design gets old before too long. So....as I mentioned before, I mix it up a bit. This stamp set is Joyeux Noel that I picked up in the UK this summer (work trip) and I like the simplicity of this whole card, not too flashy, not to crazy- simple. I hope you agree.

This reindeer is from the same set ---Joyeux Noel---. I used DSP from SU's last year. I am a hoarder of all things paper craft related, remember? LOL!!! Anyway----- I pulled out the new in color soft seude to accent the reinderr--- and... viola! A card! The ribbon is a find from a local craft store- I jsut got lucky that it matched.

Now- this last picture---- its rather funny. I started off with only 5 copics. I visited Michelle in June (work again but I got to see her home and visit and play with stamps and paper--- WOOHOO!) anyway- they were my first few copics. I inherited her set (thank you again Brian) and have been adding to them slowly. Well, maybe not so slowly, but not significant enough to where Bob is questioning packages that arrive... LOL! I then had a dilemma on how to store- and WHERE to store these precious babies.....I found this cabinet on SCS from a fellow copic lover. Its from Overstock- what I love about it is that when my room is complete- I will still be able to use it! Go me!!!

So.....enough for today. I'm off to watch my favorite TV show Bones. If its a re-run, then my book--- East of Eden calls me. Have any of you read this book? I don't recall reading it for school, but am really enjoying it now. If you are in ever need of a good and addicting book, pick it up! You won't be disappointed, promise!

A Happy Wednesday

i everyone!!!!! Its WEDNESDAY!!!! WOOHOO! The week is almost over- and while normally that would be a great thing to be looking forward to, I'm kinda sad. I took this week off from work to help hubby get the house ready for winter, work in our basement which we are finishing (and having other people do some) plus just the plain ole' medical appointments that all three men in my life need. I like staying home with them.....I am not sleeping in, that is impossible, but I am really enjoying the home time. Since I am on the road for the entire rest of November, this is quality time with my guys that is very inportant to all four of us!

I have a really fun card to share today- it is a retirement card for a co-worker. I used the Lovely As a Tree set and the DSP with the new in colors. The receipent of this card is the one true guy I work with who really likes seeing my cards each week. I don't know why, but I take them all in and show them to these "TOUGH" military men and they all scoff......yet CD actually makes nice comments about them. What a really cool guy- he will be missed.

I have new baby cards to post....but I can't do that yet..I will on Friday- promise..they have to be mailed and received first..... instead I am going to give a big shout out to two of my family members who had babies last week! Way to go Krissy and Tanya and oodles of congratulations to you both. Krissy (my cousin) had a baby boy this past week and Tanya (my cousins daughter- so my great cousin? IDK) had a baby girl. All are doing well...... I wish them all lots of love and care.

Now---- are you ready to laugh your head off? I am enclosing pictures of my stamping/scrapping/paper cave. They are MADDENING!!!!! I can not wait to get the basement finished...because as soon as its complete....we get to re-do my space. Meaning...I am going to get kitchen cabinets....a counter top and a place for my computer. Right now- the laptop sits on a chair, there is just no more room for it on the flat surfaces! This last picture are of my new *smooch* paints I got in the mail today from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. I love these babies and can not wait to play with them.... I know- like I needed more? BUT---- note that at another LOCAL store- these babies went for $5 a piece.....but I got this entire set for under $30......yuppers! please go check her out...... you will not be disappointed. She has copic markers sets.....they are another great deal from her. So........goggle her and GO THERE ASAP!

Well... I'm off to work on holiday projects. I have a mess going on, like you can tell...have a great week!

Color Challenge Tuesday

Hello all.... I hope each of you are having a wonderful week so far. Its been pretty cool and quiet around here. I did get to spend some wonderful quality time with a very good friend. It was fantastic-- I miss having good friends close by. Instead, we have to treasure our all-to-infrequent visits.

Today was color challenge day ... Basic Black, Kraft and Mambo Melon. I wanted to try all three on a holiday card using my stamp set I picked up in the UK earlier this year. This set is awesome, its made by Papermania, with multiple images for you to use. I am using each for my holiday cards this year-- wait to see what you all get!!! I haven't figured them all out yet!!!

I am not sure if you can see the stickles that i scattered on the tree, trying to give a few ornament looks to the pink tree. Can you imagine having a pink tree for the holidays? I know I would love it, but I am not so certain my men would. Maybe one day I can sneak a small one into my craft room...

This second card wasn't created tonight, but many months ago. I wanted to throw it up this evening because it utilizes the same colors, but just using a Birthday sentiment and DSP.

Happy Friday and HELLO from Florida

Hi there everyone.... I hoe all of you had a much better Friday than I!!! PHEW! I had to travel today with work----- we flew to Alabama, then to Cape Canaveral then finally to Eglin. Goodness....what a day, what a day!

Whenever I am on the road, I try (notice the TRY) to pack some cards or scrapbooking items to take with me. This takes some prep work in advacne, that is why it doesn't always happen. I have been photographed putting together a scrapbook on a large C-17 flying around the world. Today's trip was no exception. I forgot to pull the camera out while I was on the plane, but I played again this evening....so I captured a pic then!

These are one set of my Holiday cards. I usually make three different Holiday cards each year--- I get tired of making the same set 70 different times, so I like to mix it up a bit!

Before I sign off from here....I want all of you to know how extremely amazing I am learning my copics are. GOSH!!! I love those buggers!!!! Tuesday Color Challenge

Well, I was finally able to participate in my second challenge on splitcoast stampers. WOOHOO!!!

I used a bear stamp that I inherited from my friend Michelle. We both loved this little guy- and he is such a treat to use. I'm still learning the fine art of blending with copics, so he isn't the bestest yet...hopefully with much practice I will be able to produce masterpieces like my fellow stampers out there. I hope you all enjoy!

Hi all.....

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. I sure did- spending tons of quality time with my family. When the weather turns cold, I love nothing better than staying indoors and hibernating. I spend so much time traveling- that any excuse to hide is perfect for me!

I don't have any new creations to post tonight. I didn't get to spend time playing today--- BUT I received new stamps and new copics today.... can I get a WOOHOO?!?! Heck yeah.....I dutifully colored my marker chart.....loving every second of it.

So- instead of paper creations...I thought I might post some nice pictures of other things....tell me what you think.

These pictures are of some very important people in my life. The first is Michelle....she was a runner, paper lover and all wonderful woman who inspired me in many ways. We found each other on splitcoast stampers, not knowing I had worked with her husband years prior in Germany. The second picture is of my little man Nathan. He is in the 3rd grade and still is my baby--- i tell both boys that even when they are 40, they will still be mine. This little guy makes me smile, laugh and he fills my heart with such joy. He's my little 'scrapbooker' in training....the next time he plays with paper with me, I promise to pull out the camera.

These two are of my chica Eva. She lives in Texas now, but we are still connected. A fellow paper craft, and mother of two boys, it isn't just our current occupations that drew us together. GO BLUE!! LOL!

Cards..Cards and more cards

Hi everyone and Happy Sunday!!!! The weather really went cold this week in Northern Virginia....last night it was so icky, I was hoping it would snow---- yes, I am one of those people who absolutely love snow and marshmellows and snowmen!!! Its almost here!!!

My sister came to visit this weekend, and while the younger children were running around the house playing, the two teenagers watched movies. Fun times- right? Shelley and I spent all day yesterday playing with paper, making many cards for her to take home.

Since I haven't posted pictures in FOREVER- I thought it was high time I put some out here.

They were all fun cards to make....the colors, the ribbons and overall just playing with paper. Not that I need an excuse, mind you, but I love it when I can lose myself in this world and just create. I'm not as great as many paper crafters out there, but I absolutely do love making cards, scrapbooking and being a part-time artist. I find such joy and peacefullness in the hours I get to spend with my hobby.

I know it might be crazy, but I also get to spend some amazing time with my children when I am in my 'paper cave'. Both kiddos are paper junkies too- loving it when they can assist me with color choices, layouts and general designs. Nathan LOVES to scrapbook- he even has his own stash of paper, markers and containers of goodies. Please note that most of his stuff are Star Wars battle scenes..... but nonetheless....we spend some wonderful quality time together in my paper world.

Hi everyone.....I promise I am still alive. This year has been rather hectic and chaotic for me. Work has been maddening, I finished my MA in history, then I lost a dear and wonderful friend who motivated me to post all of my creations here---- knowing she isn't out there anymore to keep her eye on me- I have sort of lost my motivation. Additionally, home life has changed with the arrival of the 17 year old. PERMANENTLY!

Presently, Nathan and I are in the middle of putting together Halloween cards for his class. Crazy time--- I have so many cards I have made lately-....I will try my best to photo them all and post.

CARDS GALORE

Hi all.... I have been absolutely horrible about posting my cards lately. Believe it or not- I have tons to share with you. I know that if I spent a bit each day posting- then I wouldn't have soooo much to load at once- but somehow- when I have a free moment or two- I spend it playing with paper or playing with my kid. I know- if I can make the cards- I can at least share the pretty pictures, right?

I will begin with the ones I made this weekend. I am about to take off for several trips for work- and since my youngest sone LOVES to receive mail- I thought it time to begin a new tradition, sending him a card for each LONG trip- none for the short ones- cause well- I would never be able to make that many...LOL...The first two are for him- and the last is for a guy at work whose expecting his first child....so exciting!

This set of stamps- Toy Box - are just great for little boys and all of the maddening things they can get into. I used my Scor-Pal on each of these. ALSO---- ALERT--- I was able to make my own envelopes for these bad boys!! I know! I screeched with delight when I pulled them altogether. My family wondered at the noise- but I couldn't contain my pleasure. I know- I'm crazy...... This little green beauty is my treat to my guys on St Patty's Day. I also made one for Mrs Baldwin- Nathan's teacher- who promptly punched a hole in the top and wore it as a necklace all day. Isn't she just the best teacher ever?! Nathan absolutely adores her- and we couldn't be happier with his progress this year.

This card is similiar to another I have created. Its a baby card- my ex-husband...Aarons dad and his stepmom are expecting a baby this week. I thought it nice to send them a card- we aren't the typical families. I am sure they will like this- Aaron is going to bring photos of the baby when he comes this summer and we are going to make an album for them a a gift from him. What fun that will be! At 17- he is a brother again. But shhhhhh---- don't tell Nathan. He's rather upset- fearful that Aaron will not love him anymore. Kids.... got to love them!

These last two images are scrapbook pages. I was asked to help put together albums for my wonderful friend Andy. His wife Christine- whose untimely death is posted in a earlier blog posting- left him with THOUSANDS of photos that needed to be cropped. So--- plenty of women volunteered their time and resources to put them all together. I won't post all of my pages- just my favorite two.

Okay Michelle---- my blog has been officially updated. I know chica- not all of the cards are here... but plenty are... LOL!!! For those who don't know- my good friend Michelle LEFT me last year... (sniffle) and moved to Ohio....we routinely crop 'together' thanks to google IM...... and cell phone cameras!!!

Paper fun

So...I just returned from a quick trip to Texas where I got to visit with my best friend Eva-- HI BABE! Before that- I was in sunny Hawaii, visiting Laura....and this week I'm off to Florida....quite the whirlwind lately.....

But since I'm home for a day- I thought it might be nice to post pictures of some of my creations....I have been playing with paper- I promise- I'm just slow at getting them uploaded. I know Michelle- I am horrible..but at least I have the battle scars (paper cuts) to prove my activities...LOL!!!

Anyway.....these cards are ideas for my fellow cardmaker Denise. She is graciously making baby gift thank you cards for a friend and asked me for some ideas.....I poured through my books and my brain....emptying the cobwebs as I went along and came up with these three.

This one is made using my cricut to cut out the giraffe, with SU papers and ribbon......I really like this little guy and thought he was just the cutest thing. You may not be able to tell- but he is popped out using popup dots.....

This might be my favorite of the three- I woke up this morning with this idea- and well- ran with it. I got to use my nestabilities for the first time....my peep Michelle pointed me in the right *wink* direction and I just had to pick up some of those babies. When I returned home yesterday- they were patiently waiting for me. Needless to say- I ripped open the box and could not wait to play with them. The question now becomes- how many more can I *** SNEAK*** into the house before I am discovered? Hmmmmm.......

This last one is the more formal and elegant of the three. I like it- its rather simple- yet sets the tone for more formal occasions. It was easy to make and I love the color combination. Using my embossing plates from Stampin up!....this card is simply beautiful....

And since I haven't posted other pictures for awhile...I thought I might as well throw in a few of my life lately..... I will begin with Hawaii.

This is my friend Laura....she is stationed in Hawaii- and though I usually don't get to spend much time visiting with her when I go there for work- this past trip afforded me a bit more time off than usual- so we were able to enjoy more than a quick lunch or a cup of coffee.

My friend Sue, Laura and I all went to the ProBowl. Since were in town ...why not- right? It was an absolute blast- even though I got sunburned and ended up peeling like madnes- it was still a great time.

This is Denise, Renita and myself at a neat little shopping area across the street from our hotel. Its so incredibly rare that we get to have this kind of 'fun'- we had to document the event...LOL!

This picture is of me and the love of my life. Yes- I do know he is only 7, but the sun rises and sets with this little man. Each time his class has a craft day- and I am in town- I take the day off so that I can play with his class. His classmates absolutely love me...and I them. They are so cute and energetic ..... I could spend everyday with them......We decorated large foamy hearts on the 13th of February. Everyone had a 'card' for the adult in their life....

This last picture is of Eva and I. I actually got off base this trip -- giving me the opportunity to visit her lovely new home. Her, Bill, Alek and Nick have a wonderful home in San Antonio....I only wish they were closer to us.

More Cards!

Hi everyone! I have more cards to post...I love this quiet time (slow time) with my job. It means I get to dedicate much more time to my creativity....locking myself away in my "man cave"......LOL.....according to a guy I work with---- I have that place all men dream of- TV, cable and my hobby at my disposal...I'm so spoiled.....

Okay- so the first card is from a sketch challenge this week on splitcoast stampers. I'm addicted to my papercrafts- but I am aided by those gals on SCS. We enable each other....I have never been able to participate in a challenge- I just don't have the time- but with my downtime this week- I was able to play and play and play....GO ME!

This stamp set is winobella....I love her...shes too cool. I tried to have her done chic and cool....the wine is the best part- please note it is RED....probably a chianti! LOL!

This next one is a congratulations card. A fellow Air Force comm peep is retiring after 20 years. He is a great guy, who taught me so many things. This card is just a small token of the appreciation I have for him.

The pink card is a baby card for my co worker whose wife had a girl recently. The animals are from my cricut....YEA! I love that little device- when it chirps...i just smile! I love the paper I used here. Its from Stampin Up! and its such a prettyats it for paper. I wish I could use it for everything....:-) Then again- I am into pink....

Well- thats it for tonight. I have some down time again this weekend and plan to crop- crop- crop. I have to get some albums done....

New Baby Girl Scrapbook!

Hi again--- another post...I know- amazing- isn't it? More than one this week!

The many photos below is a 6x6 scrapbook. Its the linen album from StampinUp! I used the baby girl simply scrappin kit to make all of these pages. I added embellishments from my stash too.... I loved making this album. I began working on this project back in November...and somwhere.... there is a photo of me working on this project while on a C-17....for those non-military folks out there- thats a BIG green plane. It was a blast- but it also goes to show you I crop EVERYWHERE!!!!

Please excuse the photo quality- I'm still playing with the settings on my new *travel* camera.......anyway......here ya go!

I won't bore you with more....but there is a total of 30 pages..... one for each month of the first year and additional *firsts*...like talking, walking, and etc. yes- there is blue present.... *gasp* but I think the overwhelming amount of pink overshadows any blue or green. LOL!

I hope you guys enjoy these pictures...this album was so much fun to make.

CARDS SIGHTING

Can you believe it? I actually have some cards to post!!! I know! Its amazing what you can create when you have a few moments of peace and quiet--- to include a need for a card or two... :-)

The first card is sock monkey. I made this card for my Captain who is deployed right now to Afghanistan. We are sending a care package her way- so I wanted to add something more personal for her.... I hope she likes it!

My second and third cards are sympathy cards. I made these for my spouse who had a troop who lost his wife unexpectedly this past week. After a few misdiagnosis, and multiple hospital locations, this 30 year old mother of four children suddenly passed away.

I know this might be a rather dreary post...so I am going to include a happy picture to make you all smile. I had the *fortunate* opportunity of having to travel on my birthday- Christmas Eve. This was a first...but I was willing given who I was supporting. I love my job- and I love the people who I get the opportunity to support. And after this trip- it grew firmly entrenched in my heart how very much they care about me too. Its a very humbling experience...I spend my days consumed with WILLINGLY taking care of them- to have it returned is amazing.....So...on my birthday- we were flying back from a very cold and windy day in Montana. The spiked eggnog and santa hats were pulled out, and so was a chocolate cake. Captain Beasley had recalled it was my favorite.....what an incredible person! My fellow travelers sang to me and we dived in.....what a way to spend the day....even though it wasn't with my guys- it was still a fantastic and forever memorable day.

Well- I hope to spend most of the coming weekend locked away in my room creating *masterpieces*. I promise to post ASAP.....

I know- its been FOREVER since I have updated this blog. I hope to get better at this since I am hoping my job will slow down just a bit!

I had an extremely emotional holiday season. A very dear friend of mine- Christine- passed away. We met when I lived in Germany. Scrapbooking and card making was our connection- we had crops, shopped, and spent hours simply chatting about patterend paper, stamps and our albums that never were up-to-date. Our mutual passion for wine, our families and paper craft kept us in touch, even after I moved to Virginia.

Recently, I was in Germany for work and although I was only on the ground for 3 hours, Christine came and met me at the terminal on Ramstein. We *squelled* with delight when we saw each other (whitnessed by my co-workers- but who really cares?). We chatted, drank coffee and enjoyed the few moments of time we got to spend together. We made plans for the upcoming summer, when her and her family were moving back- we both were hopeful that it would be close to us.

Hi everyone....

I'm posting from a lonely hotel room in Lake Placid, New York. Yes- its beautiful up here- but when you are here for work- its not ALL that.

I spent the day ***working*** which included following my boss to the olympic ski jump and bobsled training camps! OMGOSH! Not only is it COLD up here, but amazing to see the effort put towards our athletes. I'm in complete awe!

Tomorrow, I get to fly home, but I don't get to actually GO home. I'm on the ground for a few hours before I take off again. I don't even get to see my boys- but- thanks to WiFi and a camera, I got to see them this evening! I will be off again tomorrow evening for another trip, returning Wednesday. PHEW! Then I leave Thursday. again. I'm going to be exhausted after all of this... but its my life.

I hope all of you are enjoying your opportunities to be crafty.....I'm green with envy.... :-)

Hi everyone.... I am so sorry for not posting the past two months. But- life has been pure crazines around here. Not only am I traveling (to make up for the summer off LOL) but I am also taking two courses for my masters AND my kid is in soccer. So--- needless to say I have minimal down time.

BUT----- This past weekend- I spent TWO WHOLE DAYS scrapbooking with my girlfriends at the Dulles Expo Center! I am so proud of myself- I completed all of 2006 and placed the order for 295 pictures of 2007 Sunday night!

Also.....(drum roll please) I placed my order today for the ATG and rolls oftape--- once I explained the economics of the decision to DH- he fell for it. Now- I just have to get it here and paint it PINK! GO NESSA!!!!

I leave tomorrow for three trips back-to-back-to-back.....but next weekend I should have some free time to upload a few things.

CARDS

Hello my friends out there.... I was finally able to settle down for some good-ole card making time.... WHAT A BLAST! As most of you know- I have either been swamped with my work or been consumed with my family. Life is crazy like that- but I need my quiet creative time, so I am doing everything in my power to get it back into my weekly routine! I hope you enjoy these!

This first card is for a great friend of mine- whom I just don't get to see enough of- but she still means the world to me. Just like good old underwire- she too is a must in my life!!

This second card is using an SU set that I myself don't have, but my fellow stamper Mishelle has in her stock. I never thought I would like the way all of the flowers would stamp 'correctly' but as I quickly learned, it turned out wonderful! Not sure of the *home* for this card yet- but I like it and its a great set for future use....hmmmmm Michelle, thats your cue to move back babe! I sure do miss you!

The VW bug is also a stamp from Michelle's collection. This is for a niece who has a birthday coming up. I think she will love it- since she is ALL girl and will appreciate the ruby red car.

This butterfly is from my stash- and its also SU! I couldn't quite figure out what else might be mising, but I think this makes a nice simple card for a Birthday. Not quite over the top- but it will work.

So....some creativity for now... I promise to try to keep it up!

Hello Everyone

Hello world.....I know most of you were wondering if I was even still alive anymore... But ALAS! I'm still here....though my wordly travels have kept me rather busy...

I spent most of April and May on the road with work. It was exhausting and rewarding all rolled into one big bag of madness. My son commented that he was tired of my 'field trips'. If only he knew.... :-) June was consumed with my husband departing for 6 weeks and my house being over ran with 2 sons, 3 nieces and a nephew. I had 6 children eating everything in sight! Though it was extremely crazy, I absolutely loved every minute if it.

I was also notified of my selection to E-7. For those non-military (or even non-Air Force people) it means I am DONE! This is my last promotion before I retire... HIP HIP HORRAY!

I spent yesterday making cards with my wonderful friend Michelle....(hi Chica!) our kids played at the pool while we stamped away! I haven't been ableto stamp in so long- I didn't want the afternoon to end...but- eventually it did and I came home and made more cards! I wish I could spend every moment of every day surrounded with craft projects..... What a life~~~

Okay- so I have been officially "TAGGED" and have to share 7 things about myself....only 7? LOL! Okay- here goes!

1. I love to indulge in a wonderful deep, dry glass of red wine......Chianti, Merlot.....I love them and have quite the stash in my basement!

2. I own more books than anyone I know- in fact- I have this thing about not being able to get rid of them once I have read them...so my library is over 350 books--- and all in boxes!

3. I have spent the last 16 years in the Air Force. My oldest son was born 4 months prior to my entry.... and I missed my first mothers day thanks to basic training!

4. I am the middle child of thee girls.....all of us only two years apart. I lost my youngest sister 4 years ago and the family will never be the same.

5. I am working very hard to complete my masters degree in history- my undergrad is also in history and political science...see the geek in me yet?

6. I LOVE popcorn, crackers and anything salty to much on--- keep the sweets but give me the salt!

7. I am 100% totally addicted to my family! I love my husband to death and my sons are the light of my life. DH is my best friend who always keeps me in check (particularly when it comes to spending money on my passions) and the boys just bring so much fun to my life. I would not be the same person if these three men weren't in my life!

FUN FUN FUN

WOW! It sure has been a long time since I posted. I have been on the road tons lately and am just now getting back to status quo! Massive drama while I was gone- but all is good now on the home front.

I spent a few hours today in my room- it was so nice simply sitting there and being creative! Moments like those are rare these days- so I relished the stolen moments. Yes- the floors needed to be mopped, dishes were crying out my name and laundry piles seemed to grow higher- but I simply ignored them. SHAME on me! Right?! LOL!

Anyway- I hope you guys like my new babies......I LOVE the new in colors with SU this year....I so wish they would keep them around forever- like my cranberry crisp of last year- I cry when they go away!

As you can tell- my favorite is River Rock....I also discovered a pet peeve of mine while working on these babes.....I so wish they would sell markers to go with them! I needed them so bad- but had to work around it....shameful- isn't it?

This last card of mine is a bella......I love these girls! Aren't they simply the best things ever? I wish I could own ALL of them- but then again- I would have to get a much bigger hiding space....speaking of- I am officially out of room for my stamps. I have a dilemma though- how to tell DH that I need more space without him seeing all of them....what's a girl to do?

My last photo is of a new DVD series I recieved today in the mail. Is anyone else in love with the Tudors? As a history geek- I love this show. I only saw a few episodes last summer when we were stuck in a hotel for a month- but have been counting until they finally released the first season on DVD. I have so many books about these crazy people- reading about them is better than anything out there! I am also dying to go see The Other Boleyn Girl....I have read the book- LOVE IT! But- since my time is so scarce (as I hide in my room when tere isn't any free moment)...I will have to wait for it to come out on DVD also- then I can watch it IN my room... doesn't get any better than that? Does it???

Crafting Once Again

Hi everyone....its been awhile since I was able to create something- but alas! I finally sat down this evening to lose myself once again.

This first card I obtained the stamped image from my fellow SCS'er Michelle....Thanks chica! I love the image...the caffeine addicted woman of 2008--- I can so relate! Without my cup of java (or more than one if I can sneak them in) I am totally lost! Behind the image is the bella stamp java....got to love those bellas! I made this card for a fellow coffee lover who so needs a pick-me-up right now.... I think this might do the trick!

Next is DH's Valentine's Day card....he never checks my blog- so I have no worries about posting early.......I picked the stamp up from M's.... and the rest is SU! paper.....not sure about the ribbon....but oh well...such is life.

Last is DS's card for V-Day. He is such a cutie pie....the mouse and my DS..... :-) Anyway... I thought little man would get a kick out of the mouse!

I am also posting a pic of my DS and his best friend Mark. They took over the floor of my room this evening to make cards for their loved ones. Mark has never stamped before and we had so much fun showing him the tricks of the trade! He went home with black ink stains on his hands- but he had so much fun! We didn't finish them all this evening -- so I will get to embark on this adventure again tomorrow evening. I know what you are thinking...boys stamping? I don't have any daughters and my 5 nieces live so far away- I have to have SOMEONE to share this with.....besides....the boys love it!

My Cat

Wow...what a horrible day. My cat passed away last night. I am absolutely devastated......but trying to hold it together to remain focused on my promotion test tomorrow.....its NOT that easy.

My husband and I adopted Daffy almost 8 years ago. My best friend in Nebraska had a pizza delivery guy (military guy) who had a cat he needed to get rid of. The cat was his wifes and she was a strictly womans only cat- as she had been abused by a man in her past. The pizza guy didn't want the cat to be stuck with him (him and the wife were separating)- so he wanted her to go to a good home with a female cat lover- that is where I come into the picture!

We brought Daffy home and literally did not see her for 4 months. The liter box was being used, food and water were being eaten....but we NEVER saw her. Then I went on half-days (I was pregnant with my youngest son). I would come home and sit in my chair- and the cat started coming out of her hiding place to check me out. For about a month- we continued this 'relationship' of her observing me. Finally, she would come out and sit on my lap! I couldn't pet her- couldn't pick her up- but she would lay there and purr all afternoon--- that is until my oldest son would come from school. Then, she would disapper and not show her face again until the next day when I was home alone.

I absolutely loved those moments with her. She was content as can be to rest in my lap. After DS was born- the cat (I guess in her manner of displaying jealousy) would finally 'permit' me to pet her. It was so funny- but i simply refused to rush her. I had no idea what she had endured in her past and simply wanted to give her a life of peace and quiet. I still remember the first time she nudged my hand for a petting....I was shocked--- but gladly gave in!

Neither my husband nor sons could pet her--- after about a year in the house- she would come out around them- but they could not go near her. She was strictly MY cat. Then..... about 2 1/2 years after adopting her- I deployed for 5 months. WOW! Poor cat! I was really worried about her- terrified that she would revert back to her old hiding habits...but no--- she had become so used to me and the family- she grew to trust the boys. So-- while I was away- they were finally able to pet her. She even grew so trusting as to sit in DH's lap at night.

Many people who visited our home never believed that we owned a cat--- as she would never come out when they were around. But this past fall- and our move to Virginia- she finally allowed strangers to see her and even go so far as to pet her.

Daffy grew to love the boys so much -- that you could find her sleeping at the foot of their beds most nights.

So today- I am trying to remain focused, but reflecting on the great cat I owned. She was absolutely amazing.

Thanks for being my sounding board.... I know this isn't a crafty kind of thing- but it is something I wanted to share....kind of like a healing mechanism so to speak.

Fun in my Srapping Room

Hi everyone.....

I was finally able to spend a few moments in my 'room' today.....YEAH! My moments in there have been rare these days- as I travel TONS for my job and when I am home- I am either studying for a big promotion test (I test 6 Feb--- send me POSITIVE vibes that day... PLEASE) or simply being a mom, wife, maid, chef, and etc.......you all know how that is...!

Anyway.....I made this card from my Bella stash... I love these girls and wish I had them all..but as my children need shoes and clothes :-) I refrain from emptying the store! So....I only have a few, this is the winebella. I thought she would make a great Birthday card for my girls who also have a wine passion with me!

I was also able to finish one 12x12 page. This is our annual family photo which we included in our Holiday cards this year. I can not believe how big my boys are getting. Aaron is now 16 and itching to get his drivers license. As soon as he gets his blood sugar under control- the doctor will sign the permission slip! Stay off the road after that!! LOL!! Nathan will be 7 in May and just lost 3 of his front teeth within days of each other. Poor guy- they were so loose, but he was terrified of having a smile without them. Now he tells me that the girls in his class say his smile is 'icky'. I remind him that its okay- permanent teeth are already there so in another month, they will love him again. Oh to be 6 again!

This might be the last few things I get to post until after the 6th of Feb. I really have to close the door to my room- otherwise the draw will keep me from getting that studying done. DH reminds me that I MUST buckle down and get this test over before I plunge into paper madness.....he just doesn't understand the pull. Its like a trance almost......so....ladies...I will be here and will post, but nothing creative until the test is over....wish me luck!!!

Hi everyone! I am so sorry for being MIA for the past couple of weeks. Life caught up with me... but I promise to try to be better!!!

I wanted to share with all of you this card- my youngest son and I are going to be making them for his class for Valentine's Day. I know its early- but with my schedule- the sooner I get started- the better!

I used the new Happy Heart Day stamp set. You can't tell- but the flower in the upper right corner has a dimensional underneath it- creating a bit of dimension to the card. the torn edges on the bottom are also curled up- to add more texture. I picked up the scalloped cardstock from my local LSS that's going out of business... :-( I used colored pencils to color the elephant and flowers.... he LOVES the card- so his job will be to take care of the stamping part and mom will color and assemble. He enjoys hanging out with me in my 'room' so getting him to help is a breeze.

I went shopping yesterday with a fellow SCS'er...and picked up this 'dog' bed for my Pug. Well- it seems that my cat has decided that it is her bed- not the dogs. Poor dog- now she is stuck on the floor again. And since the cat RULES the house- there is simply no chance that the dog will ever reclaim her bed!!!

Hi everyone!!!!! I hope all of you had a great Christmas and have exciting plans for New Years. We spent our Christmas quietly at home with my sons. I returned the 23rd from a whirlwind trip to Southwest Asia visiting troops. It was an experience I will never forget! We visited 13 bases and 7 countires in 6 days. After that I had no intention to travel or do anything 'all out' for Christmas!

So--- instead of making a big Holiday dinner- I simply did not have the energy to put one together- we made gourmet cheeseburgers for our Holiday feast. Unusual- YES! But- the boys loved it and that made it all worthwhile.

We have absolutely no plans for New Years- I hope to catch up on some scrapping--- and simply spending time with my family. Quiet time with them are the most precious moments in our lives and I plan to soak them all up.... :-)

I hope each of you have a great time enjoying the things that matter most to you!!!!

Holiday Time

Hi everyone--- I'm sorry its been a few weeks since i posted last. Life has been pure CRAZY as we are in the last bit before Christmas. I was able to attend a Recipe Flip Book class last weekend at my local Recollections. WHAT A BLAST! But for those of you who are Recollections fans- they are closing after the first of the year! I am sad also!

Stampin Up has their retiring lists out..I wasn't overly sad about the stamp sets themselves- but had to stock up on my favorite PP before the shelves are empty! Thank you SANTA!!!

I will post a picture of my album later this week- promise!

My Running Adventures

When I moved to Northern Virginia this summer, several of the people I work with had an idea that we should all train together and compete in the Air Force Marathon next September. Okay- I jumped onboard thinking it would give me the motivation and support to become a better runner. I am finally at the point of being able to complete 10 miles in one outing- which is an incredible achievement for me. My route takes me through the monuments of Washington, D.C. and up to Capitol Hill. I enjoy the area- its safe and I always enjoy seeing other people out that early in the morning. The first time I ran it- I was inspired by the surroundings- but over the past several months, I have become used to seeing it all. Until today.....

This morning... I'm out running and I pass between the Washington monument and the WWII Memorial.... the sun is rising over the monument and the breeze is slightly blowing...and I was able to gaze at the WWII Memorial, see Lincoln Monument clearly and I almost began to cry.

I would consider myself patriotic- heck- I'm in the military- not many of us aren't. But today- I really counted myself lucky. For many things actually- but primarily for being an American woman in the 21st century. I know it might sound korny..... but it really hit me. How lucky I am to live in this country.

Okay~~~~ enough mushy stuff.

Recent Projects

I apologize for the delay in getting my images uploaded....but it took me a few days to get these three projects photographed. Here are two of my Christmas cards and a book mark with the bookwormbella stamp. I apologize for the photo quailty- but my camera didn't seem to want to work properly this morning. The first is using the SU! Take Three stamp set- which I absolutely love! I can not wait to make more projects with this set!

The second card is using the SU! Hostess Sidekick Sayings stamp set. I love traditional red and green colors with my cards- and I thought this would be perfect!

My last creation uses one of my new Bella stamps- the bookwormbella. For those who haven't 'found' them yet- start checking them out! I think they are absolutely the greatest thing ever! I am going to make a book mark for my teenage niece while she is here this week. I also have the stampobella (go figure) and the wineobella......hmmmmmmm

I'm Home

Okay---- so I had to go away for a week for my job- and I'm now home again. PHEW! It's so great to be back with my family. I always miss them so much whenever I have to travel. It is a bit annoying- but a part of the profession I have choosen.

Anyway- my mother and sister are coming to my house for Thanksgiving. Can you believe it? For the first time in my life.....I am hosting a family holiday. I am so scared and excited at the same time. I have spent WAY too much money on food- but who cares?!?! RIGHT?!?! :-)

We are all three supposed to hit the stores on Friday. For the past fours years, while living overseas, I did nothing but miss those days- the frenzy, the deals, and simply the opportunity to spend money early in the morning. I love that day- so... I will be on the road before the sun rises!!!!
